Stroll through a sea of beautiful clothes and happy clients

A Terrifyingly Beautiful Bride

" Velvet created my breathtakingly beautiful wedding dress and veil. From the initial design stages right through to the finishing touches, her expertise, talent and originality truly impressed me. The dedication and passion she brings to work is evident in the quality of her product, which is outstanding. Always professional and a pleasure to work with, I highly recommend Velvet DeCollete to others."

At first sight, artist Vivien Master's future husband described her as terrifyingly beautiful. Needless to say her dream dress had to be suitably regal, and suitably black.

The result? Eighteen metres of fabric. Seven metres of tulle. One bag of Polyfill. Approximately ninety hours of work. One rockstar of a bride.

The dress, veil and panniers I created for Vivien made waves, being featured in New Idea Magazine, and the BBC and Offbeat Bride websites ( among others ). You can get the full rundown and ogle more pictures of her amazing gothic wedding here and here.

Michele's Glittering Bridal Party

Michele chose me to create bespoke designs for her casually glamorous bridal party - One wedding gown and three bridesmaid's dresses in sparkling, enchanting, oceanesque fabrics.

These dresses are designed and tailored for the individual body shapes and personalities of these vibrant women, with hand appliqued beaded lace and a handmade headpiece and veil for the bride. Between dramatic weight loss and a pregnant bridesmaid this project proved my ability to create a happy ending in a short time frame! Read the full story and see more photos here.

Justine Smith's Modern Vintage Wedding Dress

"I was so lucky to find Velvet DeCollete! She's an amazing seamstress. She made my wedding dress and it was incredible. It was a beautiful mix of my vague ideas and her amazing input and skills. I am a curvy mama and she made my dress to compliment my figure to its best! She is kind, funny, empathetic and supremely talented. I felt the best I've ever felt on my big day. I will be grateful always, and just cannot recommend her services any higher. Thank you Velvet DeCollete !!! Xx"

Comedienne Justine is a hilarious, energetic, no nonsense kind of gal. She wanted a wedding dress, but liked the idea of a high-low skirt that wouldn’t get in the way of dancing, carousing or shenanigans . It had to suit her sassy personality and vintage fete wedding. . Most of all it had to be sexy; in a classy, classic kind of way.

Samantha's Floral Swing Dress

"Velvet is such a star! We bumped into each other at the very vintage day out in 2015 and early 2016 she finished of a beautiful custom dress for me! She was a dream to work with, a very clever lady and such a sweetheart. "

Samantha and I met waiting in line for smoothies - as you do - and bonded over  over the glories and pitfalls of pinup clothing. Soon after she contacted me about a dress to wear to a family wedding.

As the event's florist she needed to retain an easy range of movement, but still wanted to look amazing. I wanted to create something that reflected her vivacious nature, showed off her stunning tattoos and made her feel like a babe.

Samantha's swing dress combines elements from the 50’s style gowns she loved, mixed with the modern comfort of a stretch cotton sateen. The bodice is fully boned for support and shaping. A bright floral print is colourful but doesn’t clash with her fiery red hair. A folded folded cowl accents the slightly off-shoulder neckline, finished with feminine bow and a line of cobalt blue buttons.

Glamorous Costuming for MisRed Delicious

Designed for her "Take Care of You" act, this bespoke costume for burlesque performer MisRed Delicious was commissioned for her international tour. It consists of a lilac satin steel boned corset, bra, g string. panel skirt and voluminous chiffon duster robe.

Many burlesque performers prefer to rhinestone their garments themselves. I supplied this costume with hand appliqued lace as a base for MisRed's rhinestone embellishments.

Til Death Do US Part

"Velvet designed and made my wedding outfit.  I had a clear picture in my mind of what I wanted and she brought it to life for me.  She calmly and professionally handled my crisis' coming up with solutions quickly.  Thanks to her my vision of being a Victorian goth bride was realised.  Thank you so much!"

Marshelle dreamt of a lush Victorian inspired wedding with a black, gold and purple colour scheme ( I spent a whole day trawling fabric stores for that specific shade of royal purple!). I designed and constructed the gown with bolero jacket and matching waistcoat for the Groom, to reflect their Steampunk style and flatter Marshelle’s bombshell curves.

This regal lace and taffeta gown has options – the dramatic train can be bustled to floor level, making it practical for dancing and enjoying your reception (in my mind this is a must. Those finger loops are hugely annoying, who wants to hold their dress up all night!?). The cropped jacket lends some extra coverage for the ceremony, with pointed cuffs designed to echo the brocade design. Even the wide lace straps I added to the corset can be removed at the brides whim.

I designed Reagan’s waistcoat to match the gold panels on Marshelle’s gown. There really is nothing better than a well dressed couple

Patchwork Doll Burlesque Costume

" An Amazing, and super talented woman. She made me exactly what I needed on short notice and its survived a 4 night show (impressive given all the removable pieces)."

When Pandora Cherie requested burlesque costume on extremely short notice, I couldn't leave her hanging (or naked). The brief was a patchwork dress worthy of Raggedy Ann, with a few cheeky removable panels at the hem. The sleeves needed to allow a full range of movement, have tear- away sleeves and withstand a 4 show run of contemporary burlesque.

The result: the sexy-cutest ragdoll you’ve ever seen.
